Farmer/Rancher Hays Stafford passed away Friday, June 28th, 2013 at his residence in Wewoka, OK. Born in Danville, AR on May 17, 1914 to Garfie and Berta (Roberts) Stafford. He was the first born of eleven children, four brothers and six sisters. He attended Bethel school in Hughes County.

Hays married Naomia (Bradley) Stafford on December 14, 1935 and three children were born to this union; Norman, Charlotte and Ronald. Naomi preceded him in death May 10, 2000 and he married Lucille Poole, May 2, 2004.

Hays worked for Amarada Oil Company for seven years. He later rented and bought land to run a cattle operation for the rest of his life. He also served as Chairman for the McAlester Production Credit Association.

Preceding Hays in death are his parents, wife, Naomia of 65 years, brothers, Ray Stafford, Bob Stafford, Jimmie Stafford and Joe Stafford; sisters, Doris Jean Lovelace, Ruby Paslay and Mary Ruth Stafford.

Survivors include his wife Lucille Stafford of the home; three children, Norma Jennings and husband Ralph of Wewoka, Charlotte Adams and husband Brent of Amarillo, TX, Ronald Stafford and wife Nancy of Wewoka; six grandchildren, Keith and Stephanie Jennings of Wewoka, OK, Matt and Rena Adams of Amarillo, TX, David and Elise Hairston of Amarillo, TX, Steve and Sharla Adams of Amarillo, TX, Will and Angela Stafford of Holdenville, OK, and Jared and Tracie Stafford of Wewoka; fifteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. And a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Will Stafford, Jared Stafford, Keith Jennings, Cody Jennings, David Hairston and Matt Adams.
Honorary Pallbearers are Matt Adams, Steve Adams, Dale Stafford, Jim Stafford, Shane Azlin, James Stafford, and John Stafford.

Funeral services were 10:00 AM, Monday, July 1, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Wewoka, OK with Rev. Susan Rice Officiating, and Brent Adams Assisting. Interment will follow in the Yeager Cemetery, Yeager, OK.
