Mary Dorothea "Polly" Myerly (or Myerley) was born in Maryland on June 30, 1801 the daughter of George and Mary Magdalena Myerley in what later became Carroll County, Maryland. Polly was christened on August 16, 1801 at the Krider's Church, and the original document has survived as of 2016. Her sponsor was Mary Dorothea Reese, her aunt.

On June 10, 1819 Polly was married to Samuel Trine, also of Carroll County. Polly Trine died August 11, 1861, aged 60 years, 1 month and 11 days.

There are actually two markers for Polly located in the Krider's cemetery. In 2000, three grandchildren of Samuel Trine erected a tombstone to his memory based on the cemetery transcriptions done by the DAR in the 1960s, and on a photograph of the original monument taken in 1972. Samuel's original marker disappeared thereafter. Mary's name was also added to Samuel's new tombstone, however her burial was a few feet away. In 2002 Mary's original tombstone. was located, excavated and reset.
