Retired miner, Bert Rivers, 87, died Sunday, June 26, in his West Van Lear home. Mr. Rivers was born October 25, 1900 at Jenny's Creek, the son of Winfield and Dosha Rice Rivers.
He was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. His wife, Roxie Fitzpatrick Rivers died in 1980. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Bertha Rice of west Van Lear; 4 nephews, Harold Morton Rice, Arnold Lee Rice, Charles Rivers and Ronald Rivers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 28, in Southside Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Young officiating.
Burial was in Wells Buckingham Cemetery at Paintsville.
