Gladys Guidry, 81, died Monday, May 17, 2010, in a local hospital.
Mom was born January 31, 1929 in Iota, Louisiana and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 64 years. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Survivors include her children, Don Guidry and wife, Sharon, Randy Guidry and wife, Lisa, Evelyn Higgins and husband, J.C., and Tricia Thompson and husband, Charles "Bo", all of Sulphur, and Rose Jones and husband, Arnold, of Vidor, Texas; one brother, Walter Ancelet of Crowley; two sisters, Ethel Murphy of Crowley and Agnes Reiners of Sibley; her grandchildren, Bonnie Ridenour and husband, Leonard, of Akron, Ohio, Marquette McGee and husband, Jeremy, of Oberlin, Nancy Jones and companion, Annette, of Alvin, Texas, Penny Fulkerson of Torrance, California, and Robby and Samie Guidry, and Cameron Thompson, all of Sulphur; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Kassidy McLendon of Oberlin, Donald and Valerie Ridenour of Akron, Ohio, and Kyleigh McGee of Oberlin; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Treville "Te-Nom" Guidry; her parents, Semar and Rosa Ancelet; a sister, Vernice Hillidge; and a brother, Clarence Estellette.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Jonathan Alvear will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 2 p.m. 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Dr. Khan, Lake Charles Care Center, the 4th Floor Nurses at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, and Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles for all of their care and compassion.
