Mrs. Rosanna Bates Saunders died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Zeliff, 235 Broadhead avenue, Thursday at 5 p.m., aged 77 years 3 months and 18 days. She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Lucy M. White of Gowanda, Mrs. Mary Zeliff and Mrs. Belle Moses of this city and Mrs. Nora Ross of Cattaraugus; also four sons, James A. of Randolph, F. B. and Charles of this city, and Joseph N. Saunders of Erie. She was survived by two brothers, John Bates of Cattaraugus and Frank Bates of Michigan and one sister, Mrs. Philena Sewell of Michigan. She became converted when quite young and joined the M. E. church. She was married to Benjamin Saunders in 1840. Nearly eight years ago she was stricken with paralysis, which has caused her last years to be full of pain and especially so the past months during which she had been confined to her bed. She endured all without a murmur. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the late home, 235 Broadhead avenue, and the remains will be taken to Gowanda on the 2:15 train for burial.
