Mrs. Augusta Richard dies at the age of 89; Funeral on Saturday
Mrs. Augusta Richard of Concordia died Thursday, Sept 14 at St. Joseph hospital where she had been seriously ill for three weeks. She was 89.
Mrs. Richard was born March 4, 1878 near Smithton, Mo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Schmidt. She was a member of the Catholic church and St. Anne's Sodality of the church.
On Feb. 19, 1900 she was married to Paul Richard at Bahner, Mo. and they moved to a farm in the Meredith community where they lived and farmed until his death in Feb. 12, 1942. In 1943 Mrs. Richard moved to Concordia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, August and a daughter Mrs. Magdalena Teasley.
Mrs. Richard is survived by 101 living descendants including eight children; Carl A. of Miltonvale; Mrs. Stella M. Blochlinger, Mrs. Adelia Elsey; John W , Lawrence, Leo A. and Matthew A. Richard, all of Concordia; and Sister Mary Paula, OSF of Marceline, Mo., three brothers; Frank Schmidt, Will Schmidt and Aloysius Schmidt, all of Tipton, Mo.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in the Catholic church at Concordia. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery at Meredith.
St. Ann's rosary for Mrs. Augusta M. Richard will be this evening at 7:30 in Chaput funeral home.
Prayer service for Mrs. Augusts M. Richard will be held this evening at 8 o'clock in Chaput’s Funeral home.
