Rudolph "Rudy" Dziuk, a longtime resident of Falls City, Texas, entered into rest Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 22 days. He was born April 17, 1923, in Falls City, the son of Louis and Josephine Petrucka Dziuk. He attended the Falls City schools and graduated from Karnes City High School. In his youth, he earned the degree of Eagle Scout with the Boys Scouts of America. After graduation, Rudy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. On June 3, 1947, he married Wilma Kunz in the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson. Rudy owned and operated the Falls City Milling Co. for many years. He was also very dedicated to his community of Falls City, and was an active member of the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department, serving on the county fire district board. He was also a member of the VFW Post 8555, Knights of Columbus fourth degree Alhambra, and the Falls City Chamber of Commerce, served as mayor of Falls City, and was on the board of the Falls City National Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Anton Dziuk and Jerry Dziuk. Rudy is survived by his beloved wife of more than 62 years, Wilma Kunz Dziuk of Falls City; his children, Dr. Timothy Dziuk and wife Patricia of Austin, Carolyn Swierc and husband Michael of Hobbs, N.M., Rudolph "Dickie" Dziuk and wife Janet, Michael Dziuk and wife Joyce, Raymond Dziuk and wife Diane, all of Falls City, and Cheryl Stone and husband Steve of San Antonio; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Tommy Dziuk and wife Sylvia of Falls City, George Dziuk and wife Virginia of Floresville, and Patrick Dziuk and wife Loretta of Falls City; his sister, Dolores Kotara and husband Frank of Falls City; sisters-in-law Rachael Dziuk of Falls City and Rosalie Dziuk of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the church with Bishop John Yanta and Father Gregory Sawicki officiating. Interment followed in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Falls City. Serving as pallbearers were Jonathan Dziuk, Corey Stone, Elliott Dziuk, Jason Dziuk, Eric Dziuk, and Michael Swierc (representing Kris Swierc).
