Donald P. Hennings, age 71, of Elkhart Lake, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 9, 2010 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.
He was born December 30, 1938 in Sheboygan; son of the late Lester and Gladys Nauth Hennings.
He attended Rhine Center Grade School and was a 1956 graduate of Kiel High School.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a military policeman.
On January 8, 1963 he married Elizabeth "Betty" Biese at St. Martins Catholic Church in Charlestown.
Don was employed as a supervisor for Tecumseh Products in New Holstein for 42 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Don had a great love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and also enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Elkhart Lake; three daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) Conner of Hershey, PA, Karen Hennings and fiancé, Gene Ohrmund of Plymouth, and Sherri (Rodney) Roth of Chetek, WI; six grandchildren, Jessica and Ashley Conner, Alexis Hardin, Hannah, Addy and Ruger Roth; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, James Allinger, Martin (Rogene) Biese, Eleanor Gebhart, Ken (Betty) Biese, Clarence (Mary Jane) Biese, Floyd (Bernice) Biese, Caroline (Clarence) Schneider and Ruth Biese. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Allinger, brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services for Donald will be held May 13, 2010 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel. Cremation will follow the services and burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
