Aloa Dixon Richards, 94, died on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Provo after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at the Sharon Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 545 S. 800 E., Orem, Utah, at 11 am on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Friends may call at the Sharon Stake Center on Tuesday evening, May 25, from 6 until 8 pm and at 10 am on Wednesday, 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Memory Lawn Mausoleum in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mrs. Richards was born Oct. 31, 1915, in Oakley, Idaho to Asael Harold Dixon and Ethel Christeena Jenkins Dixon, the first of seven children. She married J. Morris Richards in 1940 in the Mesa, Arizona, LDS Temple. They are the parents of 3 children, and are survived by daughter Christeena (Brubaker) and son D. Morris, 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Richards served a mission in England for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, returning in 1939 to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She graduated with an associate degree in arts. After their marriage, she and Mr. Richards settled in Winslow, Arizona where Mr. Richards was editor and publisher of the Winslow newspaper. Mrs. Richards was an organist, pianist and choir director in her church. In addition, she was active in her state and community, serving as Arizona presidents of Soroptimist International and Arizona Presswomen, and locally in garden and literary clubs.
