William N. was the only son of Nathaniel and Amelia McAlester/McAllister. Name was also spelled MCallester. He is in the 1850 census with Amelia and second husband Jonah Moore. He appears in the 1860 census with Amelia and third husband Lemuel B. Parks. He would have been 18 when Amelia died in 1864. His guardianship records would have been made when Nathaniel died in 1846. Again the destruction of the Probate records in 1861. Nathaniel died before he was born. This lad never knew his real father. I found W. McCalister age 22 as a farm hand enumerated with J. W. Hickerson two doors from William Jackson McAllister, first cousin to this William's father, Nathaniel McAllister. I have been unable to find any possibilities in 1880. He is not mentioned in his sister's (Mary T.) obituary, Columbus, Zach, Jonah Clifton or Sarah DeHaven's.

There is a William McAllister at Union Cumberland at Riggs, Boone County. A researcher said this was not Brightberry's family. There is another group of McAllisters at Far West. So far there is no connection between them and Brightberry. The William McAllister at Riggs needs more proof he belongs to us before he is connected. Possible obit from State Historical Society would help.
