Oldest grave and head of the Abbott family line in this Cemetery, Nathan and wife Lydia arrived in 1787 per their headstone from Connecticut, and the family continued to live in Stockbridge and the surrounding towns of Bethel, Woodstock, Barnard and others for many generations until the late 1940s.

Nathan married Lydia Hatch in Sturbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts on 10 October, 1765. They had six (proven)and possibly more Children:

Daniel Abbott, Sr., (PROVEN) born 15 June 1766, in Sturbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts (see family link) Married Elanor Blodgett in Stockbridge.

John Abbott (PROVEN) born 24 July 1768 in Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut. His burial place and death date are unknown at present.

Thankful(l) Abbott (PROVEN) born 15 February 1769 in Sturbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts. Thankful married Jeremiah Parish in 1788. Their burial places are unknown at present. She died in Bethel, Vermont on 17 Sep 1818; Jeremiah remarried and moved to New York.

Marcy Abbott (NOT PROVEN - Listed as Abbet) 20 March, 1770 in Sturbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts.

Lydia Abbott, (PROVEN) born 05 November, 1774 in Stafford, Tolland, Connecticut.

Easter Abbott, (PROVEN) born 09 December, 1776 in Stafford, Tolland, Connecticut.

Nathan Abbott, Jr. (PROVEN) birth/death unknown at present, who was cited many times in the town records of Stockbridge. Nathan married Sophia Gilbert in Stockbridge, Windsor, Vermont on 12 July, 1801.

Nathan served the town of Stockbridge during various times in his life as Grand Juryman and as the head surveyor of 'The Narrows,' which is the original name for what is now Gaysville, Windsor, Vermont.

Eldest son Daniel is the more 'known' head of the family line in Stockbridge and was very prominent and active in the town, as was Nathan; farmlands that he owned alongside his father and likely parcelled out to his sons and other descendants directly abut the cemetery. An 1869 Map of Stockbridge shows the locations of his sons' residences on this land. The land overlooks the White River, and is still being farmed today.
