Sister Grace Melville was born to Charles Melville and Ellen Velton on 1/27/1912 in New York City. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on 1/2/1929 from the parish of St. Benedict in the Bronx. She received the Dominican habit on 8/30/1929, professed her vows on 9/2/1930 and perpetual vows on 4/17/1936.
She was a teacher throughout her religious life up until the time of her retirement to the Sister's Infirmary in 1985. Sister Grace Melville (formerly Sr. Mary Theophane), taught in the following schools; St. Anselm, Bronx, 1929-1930, St Benedict, Bronx, 1930-1935, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Goshen, 1935-1936, St Aloysius, Livingston Manor, 1936-1937, St Raymonds, Providence RI,1939-1945, St.Luke, Bronx, 1945-1951, St. Pius, Bronx, 1951-1954 and Immaculate Conception, Amenia NY, 1954-1985. She returned to the Sister's Infirmary in 1985 because of her health.
Sister Grace Melville is survived by her Melville, Velton, Gunerman, Krumm, and Adamec cousins.
