He came to Owego, NY in April of 1836 to take charge of the lathe, grist and other mills owned by Robert C. Johnson. He became quite prosperous and eventually owned at least two mills (at Nichols and Owego), and portions of a rail line that ran between the mills.
He and Lucy were the parents of at least 10 children.
