Curtis Harmon, 91, prominent citizen of the Claremont community,passed away last evening, August 22, 1972, at Burgin Nursing Manor, following a long period of ill health.

A lifelong resident of Richland County, Mr. Harmon was the son of Henry and Mary Ann (Groff) Harmon.

His first marriage was to Eva Edith Fisher on Dec. 30, 1902 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 1956. A second marriage was to Pearl (Fisher) Smith on May 31, 1957, and she, too, preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1969.

Mr. Harmon had an intense interest in the Eureka Church of Christ, of which he had been a member for most of his lifetime. He had served the church as an Elder for many years, and in various other capacities.

He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Golda Read and Mrs. Lora Shake, both of Olney route 4; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Bradham, of Claremont and Mrs. Emma Cranford of Portland, Ore.; and a half-sister, Mrs. Beulah Newman of Oakland, Cal.

Besides his two wives, he has been preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons; one grandchild, one brother, Bert Harmon, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Keen and Mrs. Rose Keen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Eureka Church of Christ with Bro. Luther Toliver officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Thursday.
