Nancy McCloud was born to John and Polly (Brown) McCloud of Rowe, Massachusetts. On 7 Feb 1839 she married Lorenzo Aldrich of North Adams, Massachusetts. By the summer of 1840 they were living next to Ananias Aldrich, brother of Lorenzo, in Dundee Township, Kane, Illinois. Also in the neighborhood were George Aldrich, brother of Lorenzo, and Lawson McCloud, brother of Nancy.

On 11 January 1841 Lorenzo bought 40 acres of land from his brother in Dundee Township, Kane County.

February 26, 1845, Lorenzo bought one acre of land in Section 19 of Dundee Township with 20 neighbors for a "Burying ground" which was later called Schroeder Cemetery. Though Lorenzo and Nancy are not buried on their lots, no transaction can be found that indicates that they sold or relinquished their ownership of the lots.

In early 1854 Lorenzo and Nancy moved to Hazel Green Township, Deleware, Iowa. Lorenzo and Nancy prospered in Delaware County because the 1870 census shows that they had real estate worth $3990 and personal property worth $1431. Lorenzo and Nancy remained in Deleware County until their deaths.

Children of Nancy and Lorenzo: Juliette, Henry David, Louis Albert, Alice M, Elma, Romanso A., Iona L. and Ella.
