Columbus Harvey Grizzle Sr., 85, of Winder died Sunday.

A native of Gwinnett County, he was the son of the late Henry B. and Claudie Butler Grizzle. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Auburn, a retired truck driver with Oxford Industries and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Belle Finch Grizzle, and sons, Columbus Grizzle Jr., H.W. Grizzle and Jack Henley Grizzle.

Survivors include his daughters, Johnnie Barnes, Gainesville, and Patricia Murphy, Snellville; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Smith Memory Chapel, Winder. The Rev. Jack Segars and the Rev. Darrell Gilmer will officiate. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hi-Hope Center, 882 Hi Hope Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30043.
