Florence Aldrich

Florence Aldrich, 98, Breckenridge, formerly Nashua, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, at St. Francis Home, Breckenridge.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Gall's Catholic Church, Tintah, with the Rev. Eugene Doyle officiating. Interment will be in St. Gall's Catholic Cemetery, Tintah.
Visitation will begin today (Friday) at 5 p.m. at St. Gall's Catholic Church, Tintah, with a Bible vigil at 7 p.m. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
She was born June 10, 1887, to Mr. and Mrs. Christ Engen at Comstock, Minn. She attended rural school and graduated from Hallock High School. She then attended Moorhead State Teachers College and the University of Minnesota. She began teaching in 1904 and taught rural school at Hoffman, Barrett, Elbow Lake, Rothsay, Nashua, Tenney and in Tintah for 44 years. She married Fred Aldrich in 1918. The couple lived at Nashua. He preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1956.
Mrs. Aldrich was a 4-H club leader at Nashua for 37 years, a music instructor for 50 years and the Nashua news correspondent for the Gazette-Telegram, Valley Alert, Daily News and Fergus Falls Daily Journal for 36 years. She served as village assessor of Nashua for five years. She was a member of St. Gall's Catholic Church and directed the choir and was church organist for over 50 years. She was named Teacher of the Year in 1963 and Outstanding Senior Citizen of Wilkin County in 1969. She moved to St Francis Home in Breckenridge in Jun 1978.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Garland (Kathryn) Raper, Jackson, Mich.; and Dorothy Aldrich, Minneapolis; a son, Fred E Aldrich, Woodstock, Ill.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter Lorraine, two brothers and a sister.
Pallbearers for the funeral of Florence Aldrich, 98, Breckenridge, who died Jan. 14, will be Ed Sheehy, Elmer Karlgaard, Don Wetenkamp, Delmer Voss, David West, and Timothy McClernon.
Mrs. Aldrich's funeral will be Saturday (today) at 10 a.m. at St Gall's Catholic Chruch, Tintah.
Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, is in charge of arrangements.
