Obituary:

Mervin, son of John and Eliza Chapman, was born March 31, 1885 in Orange Township and departed this life at his home south of Moonshine on September 7, 1966 at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 7 days.

On September 17, 1905 he was united in marriage to Faye Metheny. To this union were born 5 children: Don, of Robinson; Mrs. Mildred Bolt, of Bremen, Indiana; Mrs. Bernice Ulrey, of Martinsville, Illinois; Mrs. Lorene Good, Montrose, Illinois; and Mrs. Zola Gaile Winn of Westfield, Illinois.

Early in life he gave his life to Christ and became a member of the Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and remained a faithful member until his death.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and 5 children, one brother, Ova Chapman of Robinson, Illinois; 2 sisters, Mrs. Letha Deverick of Casey, Illinois, and Mrs. Bertha Sellars of Annapolis, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. There are two grandchildren who are not here. They are now in Germany.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and brother, Lawrence.

He was a good friend and neighbor and will be sadly missed by his church and community.

Mervin Allen Chapman was best noted for his great love for all little children. He loved deeply his in-laws and they in turn loved him.

The family wishes to express thanks to all who have helped during his illness and death.
