ANOTHER DROWNING --
Sad Death of Little David BURRIS Last Wednesday --
David BURRIS Jr., aged 10 years, 7 months, youngest son of D. BURRIS, a pioneer and prominent rancher of this vicinity, was drowned last Wednesday afternoon.
During the absence of David's parents, 2 neighbor's boys, named BETTS, aged 10 & 12 years, came to the BURRIS residence and requested David to accompany them to catch young ducks in a pond on the JACOB ranch, a mile or more from the BURRIS residence. The boys stripped and while chasing the ducks, David got in beyond his depth and was drowned, the other boys being afraid to go to his assistance. One of the BETTS boys brought the news to Frank BURRIS and the foreman, the only ones on the ranch at the time, and the body was brought home. The parents are prostrated with grief and Mrs. BURRIS has been dangerously
ill, but is now better.
The remains were embalmed, to keep them until all the family could be present at the funeral, which takes place tomorrow forenoon, at 11 o'clock at the BURRIS residence. The remains will be interred in a brick vault erected for the purpose near the BURRIS home. Rev. A.G. PARK will conduct the services.
