OBITUARY; Father Leander Schweitzer, 79, of Cincinnati, died Thursday, August 26, 1993, at St. Clair Retirement Center, Cincinnati.He was born August 24, 1914, in Auglaize County, the son of Frank and Clara Schweitzer.Survivors include three brothers, Alfred Schweitzer and Wilbur Schweitzer, both of Wapakoneta and Victor Schweitzer of Botkins; one sister, Hilda Koenig of Wapakoneta; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.After attending St. Gregory's Seminary in Cincinnati for eight years, Father Schweitzer was ordained June 7, 1941 at the Norwood Seminary. He taught at Elder and DePorres High School while serving as assistant pastor at St. Peters and Paul in Norwood, and St. Augustine's, St. Ann's and St Edward's in Cincinnati before going on to establish St. Peter's in Huber Heights in 1960.In 1968, he returned to Cincinnati to serve St. Margaret's and in 1974 went to St. Francis DeSales in Lebanon, where he retired in 1989. During his retirement, he volunteered for St. Bonifas in Cincinnati. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 2 P.M. at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Lebanon, with Arch Bishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk officiating. burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.The reception of the body will take place Monday at 4 P.M. at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, with visitation continuing until 8 P.M.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church.Arrangements are under the direction of Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon.
