Allen DeVol was one of the 48 first settlers and a member of The Ohio Company, who arrived in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio in the year 1788.

Some researcher proclaim his birth to be Providence, R.I. per the information on his tombstone.

While other researcher proclaim his birth to be Tiverton, R.I.

Per the research that I feel with the most accuracy proclaims his parents to be. Daniel DeVol and Elizabeth Jennings who at the time of Allen's birth are living at Tiverton, R.I.

There fore I proclaim at the moment that Allen was born in Tiverton, RI.

If you have documented proof of Allen being born at any place other than Tiverton please feel free to contact me I would love to see your proof and happy will change this memorial.

Suggested edit: Three sons of Daniel Devol, ALLEN DEVOL, ISAAC, and DANIEL DEVOL, came to Marietta with "The First Settlers" Apr. 7. 1788, and helped to build the boat on which they all floated down to Marietta, Ohio.
