James M. Baucum, Sr.

Funeral services for former Newton resident, Mr. James M. Baucum, Sr., 72, were held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Bonner and Rev. John West officiating on Sunday, September 5. Mr. Baucum died at his residence in Odessa, Texas on September 1, 1999. Burial took place in the church cemetery.

Mr. Baucum was a masonry contractor, born in Newton County, and a former member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church. His survivors include his wife, Clara Waterloo Baucum of Odessa, Texas; two sons, James Baucum, Jr. and Paul Baucum, both of Odessa; one daughter, Nancy Millik of Houston, Texas; one brother, Frank Baucum of Newton, MS; a sister, Lena Baucum Cleveland, Baton Rouge, LA; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dan Edwards, Sam Edwards, Jack Harris, Tom Harris Barry Roebuck and Tony Adams.

James F. Webb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James married Clara Waterloo on July 2, 1948 in Newton County, Ms.
