---James Jr. "Judd" Self, age 60, of 423 East Orrick, La Plata, Missouri, passed away Saturday evening (April 2, 1994) at the Vencor Hospital, in Kansas City, Missouri.
---Born on March 23, 1934, in Green Castle, Missouri, he was the son of James Franklin and Diona Elizabeth (Shott) Self.
---Survivors include four brothers, Hugh Self, of Craig, Colorado, Lloyd Self, of La Plata, Missouri, Glen Self, of Kansas city, Missouri, and Garry Self, of Sturgeon, Missouri; one sister, Betty Stackhouse, of Fontana, California; and several nieces and nephews.
---He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill Self and Leslie self.
---Judd received his education at the La Plata Schools where he graduated with the class of 1952 He was employed as a service man for the Henry Ruddell Gas Company for several years and was later employed with the M.F.A. Oil Company in La Plata. He was a member of the La Plata Golf Club and enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and baseball.
---Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at the Travis Funeral Chapel, in La Plata, Missouri, with the Reverend Orville Shriver officiating. Music was provided by Shirley Matticks, organist, and Bob Welsh, soloist. Musical selections were "One Day At A Time" and "Precious Memories".
---Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Hunter, Tom Phillips, Charles Thompson, Wilson Belt, Jim Bragg, Robert Dale Bowen, Bob Slaughter, and Gene Bunch.
---Honorary pallbearers were Mike Moore, Junior Johnson, Roy Sweikert, Gerold Burnett, John Holmes, Bill Adams, David Christy, Donald Beach, Ron Taylor, Jeremy Bragg, and Jeffrey Bragg.
---An expression of sympathy in memory of James Jr. "Judd" Self may be made to the La Plata Baseball Association. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Travis Funeral Chapel.
