MORGAN, Lizza McDANIELS - Word was received here by Mrs. Harry Coghill that her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lizzie Morgan, had been shot and killed by Abe Owens Thursday morning about 8 o'clock at the Cherokee Seminary Dormitory, 5 miles from Tahlequah, Okla. Owens is a widower and part Cherokee and had made repeated efforts to pay attentions to Mrs. Morgan and when she refused to marry him he called at the dormitory and shot her three times; two shots in the breasts and one in the abdomen and she died at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Morgan was raised southwest of Rogers and was the daughter of John Presley McDaniels, who lived on the farm now owned by T.V. Brandon, and was a niece of Mrs. Abe McGarrah and Mrs. Ben Pitts of this city, Mrs. Robert Archer, Andy McDaniels and Miss Armiza McDaniels and a sister-in-law of Mrs. W.J. Langley, all living south of town. She was married to John Morgan July 4, 1899. Her husband died five years ago at Stroud, Okla. Mrs. Morgan moved to Tahlequah about two years ago where she had two sisters living. The body was taken to Stroud Sunday and laid to rest by the side of her husband. Her husband was a brother of Tom D. and Harvey Morgan of this place and James and Will who are in Colorado, Mrs. J.E. Stocking, Mrs. Harry Coghill and Mrs. E.S. Neil. She leaves four children, the olde3st a daughter of 16, the youngest a boy of 5 years. They may make their home here with relatives.
