Funeral services for Fred O. Meyer, a resident of Grand Island for more than 45 years, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home by the Rev. Martin Schroeder, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Meyer died Tuesday morning in the family home at 229 South Locust. He had been in failing health for many years and critically ill the last month. He was born at Golden, Illinois, March 19, 1868. He received his schooling at Golden, then moved to the Glenvil, Neb. community.
He and Miss Johanna Monk were married at Glenvil March 5, 1894. They began their home on a farm near Glenvil. In 1907, they came to this community and farmed near Grand Island for several years. When the condition of Mr. Meyer's health became such that he could no longer farm, he and Mrs. Meyer came into Grand Island to make their final home. Mr. and Mrs. Meyer had been married for nearly 59 years. Mr. Meyer was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Otto and William Meyer both of North Platte, and John Meyer, Tacoma, Wash; five daughters, Mrs. Jennie Becker, St. Paul, Mrs. Lloyd Wheeler, Portland, Ore, Mrs. Hubert Hutton, Vallejo, Calif, Mrs. Harry Taylor, Lincoln, and Mrs. Raymond Kehm, Grand Island; 36 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. A son, George Meyer, his parents and two sisters preceded him in death.

Those attending from here were: Mrs. Henry Becker Jr. and Jo Ann; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Becker and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Becker and Jerry, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Becker, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stewart and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith, Raymond, Lawrence and Elmer served as the grandfather's pallbearers.
