John Howard Taiclet, devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2009 in Winfield, Kansas at the age of 89.
He was born to Joseph Edmon Taiclet and Mary Elizebeth Barr in Cardin, Oklahoma February 12, 1920. He was reared in Neosho, Missouri and graduated from Neosho High School in 1938. He served in the Pacific Theater in WWII as a Staff Sergeant with the 7th Division, 707th Ordinance Company of the US Army. On April 8, 1957 he married Nadine Ramsey Gunn of Ponca City, Oklahoma. In 1961 the couple, along with their two sons established residence in Winfield, Kansas. Howard was a 50-year member of the Wichita Kansas Pipefitters Union, Local # 441 and traveled extensively. He retired in 1985.
In 1981 he lost his beloved wife Nadine. His parents and six brothers also preceded him in death. He is survived by his stepson, Lloyd Gunn and wife, Lisa of Arkansas City and his son, David Taiclet and wife, Molly of Wichita. He has one granddaughter, Kylie Taiclet of Wichita, three step-granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
His lifelong affiliation was with the Northside Baptist Church of Neosho, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain, Bob Weaver presiding.
