John Warner Morgan, 70, of 2023 Oak Hill Road died at 4 am Saturday in his home.
He formerly owned and operated Morgan & Chesterson Gravel Co. He served in the Army during World War Ii as a private first class. He was educated in New Market Schools.
He was a member of Alamo Masonic Lodge 144, Crawfordsville York Rite, Murat Shrine, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1431 and Byron Cox Post 72 American Legion.
Mr. Morgan was born at New Market on July 12, 1923, to Cecil and Lorene Warner Morgan. he was married at Crawfordsville on May 8, 1957, to Georgia Hall. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Clayton of Wallace and Mark of Roachdale; three daughters, Diane Rickefs of Lafayette, jackie Roche of Darlington and Nancy Brock of Elmdale; a brother, Carroll Dean of Crawfordsville; three sisters, Dorothy Breedlove and Betty Devitt of Crawfordsville and Maxine Eminger of Kendallville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A brother preceded him in death.
The funeral is scheduled for 10 am Tuesday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Norris Keirn officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery North. Friends may call 4-8 pm today at the funeral home. Masonic rites by Alamo Lodge are scheduled for 8 pm today. Military rites will be conducted at graveside.
