Gone to Her Last Home.

Miss Anzilena Root, died at the residence of Mr. Charles Grupe at 403 Ervin street. She has been making her home with Mrs. Marlow on South Hill. Being for a long time a victim of that fatal disease consumption, about three weeks ago, feeling the end of life draw nigh, she requested to be removed to the place where she died, that her latter hours might be spent with Mrs. Grupe, an old and esteemed friend. Sunday morning she quietly passed away, bearing to the last with the Christian resignation which had for years marked her daily life. She had been a teacher in our city schools for a long time, until a few years ago when she was compelled to give up that employment on account of failing health. Miss Root was born in Erie county, New York, in 1812 [sic]; she came to this city when quite young, and has remained here ever since. She was a devoted member of the Baptist church, and her life was ever consistent with her profession of faith; it was that of a sacrificing, devout Christian. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. E. C. Spinney, South Hill Baptist chapel, at 1:30 p.m. Carriages will leave McArthur's, corner of Valley and Third streets, at 12:30.
