CATHERINE SCHMITZ

Catherine Schmitz, 96, a former Kiel resident and a resident of the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, died Tuesday night at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton.
The former Catherine Lauer was born Nov. 20, 1890 in St. John, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lauer. She attended school in St. John.
She married Paul Raddatz in Hilbert. He died Jan. 23, 1919. On July 6, 1921, she married Serve Schmitz in St. Ann. The couple farmed in the town of Russell until 1946, when they moved to Kiel. He died Sept. 10, 1970. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel and its Christian Mothers Society.
Survivors include a son, Leon Raddatz of Sheboygan; three daughters, Mrs. Elroy (Rose) Arndt and Mrs. Arno (Kathleen) Adams both or rural Elkhart Lake, and Mrs. Ramona Seraphine of Lannon; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lester (Lorraine) Platz of Kiel, and Mrs. Elfred (Elfrida) Helmer of Sheboygan Falls; 12 grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren and a great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, a stepdaughter, four brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Leannah, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anna Cemetery, St. Anna.
