Cipriana J. 'Pana' Abeyta, 93, a resident of Barstow for 58 years, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004. She was born Nov. 29, 1910 in Encino, N.M. She was a homemaker for 70 years. She loved crocheting and was an avid Los Angeles Lakers fan. She enjoyed several crafts. She was an active member of the PTA while her children were growing up. She belonged to St. Joseph Prayer Group in addition to teaching the catechism to the educationally handicapped. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary and helped with the Children's Shoe Box program. She worked as a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Thrift Shop. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Abeyta. Survivors include her daughter, Rosemaria Sauer and her husband Al of Barstow; sons, Paul Abeyta and his wife Nancy of Moreno Valley, Gilbert Abeyta and his wife Norma of Barstow, Melvin Abeyta and his wife Olivia of Highland, Rudy Abeyta and his wife Ingrid of Port Orchard, Wash., Lorenzo 'Larry' Abeyta and his wife Vickie of Watsonville, and Anthony Abeyta and his wife Gloria of Hesperia; sister-in-law, Pita Jaramillo of Barstow; 28 grandchildren, and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
