"We are again called upon to chronicle the death of one our oldest settlers of this locality. Mrs. Patrick Darrow passed away at her home in Blanchard, Nov. 5th after an illness of long duration, at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 15 days.

The deceased maiden name was Margaret McKillip. She was born in the county of Antrim, Ireland, Sept. 15, 1821 and came to this country in 1850. She was united in marriage with Patrick Darrow in 1854 and has since resided on the farm, where she died.

Five children, Mrs. Mary Whalen, Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Hughes of Fayette, Frank Darrow together with her husband survive her and they greatly miss the beloved wife and mother. She was a noble woman and was held in high esteem b all who knew her.

The funeral service which was largely attended were held at the Yellowstone church, Thursday Nov. 7th, Rev. Father Ambaum conducting the last sad rites. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the church. "May her soul rest in peace."

This was copied from the original newspaper account found in an old scrapbook that had been assembled by Martha Lyons Hoffman.

The above obituary says " survived by 5 children" but lists only 4- missing is James who died in 1878. Also, the 1900 census shows her as having 7 children with 4 living.
