Johnette King, 65, of Momence, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1996 at St Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park. Speaker Clarence Thacker will officiate. Burial will be in Momence Cemetery, Ganeer Township. Mrs. King was born Jan. 25, 1931 in Natchez, Miss., the daughter of King and Annie Brooks Robinson. Surviving are her husband, Leroy King, whom she married Dec. 24, 1974 in Cook County; four stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Roger King of Greenwood, Miss., Edward and Diane King of Kankakee, Sam and Terry King, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; five stepdaughters and one step-son-in-law, Emelia and Ralph Young of Kankakee, Wednesday, Patricia and Joanne King of Greenwood, Miss., and Brenda King of New Orleans, La.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jessie and Jackie Williams of Natchez, Miss., King Robinson Jr., of California; three sisters, Gwen Robinson, Priscilla Robinson and Anne Anderson, all of Chicago; one aunt; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Deceased are her parents, uncles and aunts. A resident of the area for 26 years Mrs. King was formerly a correctional officer at Dwight Correctional Center.She was a member of Jehovah Witnesses, and enjoyed fishing, sewing and needlepoint.
