Robert was the son of Robert Pruden and his first wife, Olive Hubert along with 2 siblings, Thelma and Lester Pruden. Olive deserted the family when the children were very young and her 3 children were lovingly raised by Robert Pruden's second wife, Nancy Agens. The 3 siblings were soon joined by several half brothers and sisters. Robert and a friend of his traveled by rail seeking work in the western states in 1933; sadly, Robert developed appendicitis and died upon arriving in Texas.
