Robert Henry Pruden was one of four children born to Robert Byerly Pruden and Mary Mellen. He was a life long resident of Stanhope, NJ.
His first wife's name was Olive Silver. She left him sometime around 1915, leaving him with their three small children, Thelma, Robert Joseph, and Lester.
He then married Nancy Ann Agens and fathered 8 more children, Harriet Margaret, Mary Marion, Eugene Paul, Ralph Alvin, Edward James, Marion, Lester, and Andrew. The last three children listed died during childhood.
Robert died unexpectedly on May 7, 1954 of an apparent heart attack. It wasn't until 1970 when his youngest son Edward was diagnosed with a genetic heart defect that it was realized Robert probably had this same defect, and that was probably the cause of his death.
