HARLINGEN, TX. —
Retired msgt. Eldo Ray "Al" Allen,
resident of Harlingen, TX. entered into eternal rest on July 2nd, 2010 at home.

He was preceded in death by a son; John David and daughter in law Susan, his parents Alfred Allen and Margaret Allen, 2 brothers; Donald Allen and Gary Clark Allen and 1 sister; Helen Allen.

Eldo was born in Detroit, Michigan May 13th, 1935 to Alfred and Ellen Margaret Allen. Eldo spent many of his formative years growing up in Pollard Arkansas. After Eldo's father passed away, he joined the U.S. Air Force at age 17 to help support his mother and siblings.

Mr. Allen served as a crew chief and Flight Engineer in a K.C. 97 refueling tanker plane. After serving 20 years, he retired with the rank of Master Sgt.

Eldo then worked in the Computer industry as a computer salesman where he was highly successful. At 50 yrs of age, Mr. Allen decided to try a different line of work and went back to college and graduated Suma Cum Laude with a degree in nursing and nursed as an Oncology nurse and hospice at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. until his retirement. Mr.
Allen also raised and sold top hogs on his farm in Ashland City, TN.

Mr. Allen moved to the Valley in 1995 and has resided at Sunshine Country Club Estates in Harlingen, TX.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife; Julia Allen, brother; Bob Allen, sister; Linda Israel, son; Mark Allen (Sylvia) of Dickson, TN. And grandchildren; Kari Lynn Allen, Jessica Lynn Allen, George
Mark Allen, Rachel Julia Ann Shultz (Jerred), and Steven Ray Allen.

Mr. Allen is a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

A rosary will be held Monday evening at 7 PM at Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home, 1002 E. Harrison Ave and a funeral mass is tentatively scheduled at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10 AM with Fr. McHugh as celebrant.

Burial will be at Harlingen-Combes Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 205 and VFW Post 2410.

Pall bearers will be Bob Nordin, Charlie Prebost, Clell Keller, Sam Carubia, Vic Hillman, and Jack Scott.
