Wilhemena 'Willie' Gay Allen was born on February 5, 1923 in Spring Hope, North Carolina. She was the sixth child of Thomas and Lelia Gay. She departed from this life on Saturday, September 15, 2007.

She attended Nash County Schools and joined Rocky Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She later in life joined Faith Chapel Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. She was a faithful and dedicated member in serving on the Deaconess Board, Mother Board, Food and Fund Raising Committee. She was known for her mouth watering fish sandwiches, pies and cakes along with her sweet and witty personality. She was loved by all who knew her.

Willie was united in Holy Matrimony to William Allen on May 1, 1946. To this union two children were born, Miles and Winzell. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Miles Allen. Willie was the last sibling of nine who preceded her in death: Genatus, Pauline, Rosa, Harry, Tom, Beatrice, Charles and Douglass.

Willie had a full life of vocations from owner and operator of a Beauty Salon to taking care of others. Her legacy will always remain in the hearts of: her son, Winzell Allen of the home; special daughter, Pamela West Henderson of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren, Randel, Vaughan, Toyia and Shendel; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and her extended church family.
