AGE: 85 BOUND BROOK
Prosper Barbati, 85, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Raritan Valley Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Bridgewater.
Born February 11, 1925, in Bound Brook, he was the son of Elia C. and Josephine Varulo Barbati.
He resided most of his adult life in Washington, D.C., returning to Bound Brook after his retirement.
Mr. Barbati received his Bachelor's degree from Trenton State Teachers College, and his Master's Degree from Madison University, Madison, WI.
He was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the West Pacific Theater.
Mr. Barbati was a security administrator for the Central Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C., for over 30 years, retiring in 1978.
He served as a Background Check Investigator, a Personnel Security Officer, and Industrial Security Officer in the US. He also served as the Chief Security Officer of an overseas installation in the Far East, and as Security Survey Officer of Overseas Facilities.
He was a member of the Friends of the Bound Brook Library.
Mr. Barbati is survived by his brothers, Elia C. Barbati, Jr., of Bound Brook, Raymond J. (Peggy) Barbati of Whitehouse Station, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 8, at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. Interment will be at Bound Brook Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral time on Thursday.
