Staff Sergeant Allen was a member of Company H, 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. Killed in action during Operation Market Garden while participating in the Waal River crossing. He was one of 48 paratroopers killed during that assault on German positions on the opposite bank.
