He married Addie Shepherd 24 Dec 1933 in Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri.
They had three children: Eleanor, Patricia Lee, James Bert.

"E. B. Smith Dies; Retired Insurance Office Manager"

"Ernest Bert Smith, 73, of 800 South Williams died at 8:15 a.m. today in Community Hospital.
Born at Indian Grove, he had lived in Moberly 29 years. Mr. Smith was a son of Bert B. Smith and Ora Tallcott Smith. He was retired from the National Life and Accident Insurance Company and was office manager for some time during his 31 years of service. Mr. Smith was member of First Baptist Church and a deacon emeritus. He also belonged to the Prairie Home Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Addie Lee; one daughter, Pat Edwards, Kirksville; son. Dr. James Bert Smith, St. Louis; three grandchildren, Debbie Kay Edwards, Laurie Lynn Edwards and Edwin Bert Edwards, all of Kirksville; two sisters, Mrs. Charlie Riddell, Mendon, and Mrs. Eldon Holoway, Brookfield; and nieces and nephews.
The body is at Cater Funeral Home, where funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Larry Thomas of First Baptist Church in charge. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday"
