JOHN BEITLER DIED SUNDAY AFTERNOON

John Beitler, retired farmer, 77, passed away at his home Sunday afternoon at 3:40 o'clock. He was born in Wayne County, Ohio, and came to this community when a young man and has almost spent thirteen years of his lifetime here in Berne.
The deceased has been sick for the past five and one-half months, his death being attributed to senility. He has been very low at repeated times and many times little hope was held for him.
He was born February 8, 1849 and died February 28, 1926, bringing his exact age to 77 years, and 20 days.
On February 22, 1877, he married Miss Fannie Reef. To this union were born four daughters and four sons, who with his wife, survive to mourn him. They are Emma Beitler, Ed Beitler of Linn Grove, Fred Beitler of Wabash Township, Mrs. Ferd Mettler of Berne, William Beitler of Hartford Township, Elizabeth Beitler of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Hiram Liechty of Berne, and Dewald Beitler of Berne. Three children predeceased. They are William Beitler, Ida Beitler and Mrs. Amos Zehr.
Two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Ellenberger and Mrs. Lena Yager survive, as do two brothers, Sam and Lawrence, and two step-brothers, Chris and Fred Stucky.
He united with the Vera Cruz Reformed Church, but has since become a member of the Berne Reformed Church, where services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Services will be held at the home at 1:30.
