Henry Spain sadly passed away during the yellow fever epidemic in Wilmington, Delaware on September 25, 1798 when he was around 4 years old. His father and mother, George and Elizabeth Reynolds Spain, also died during this new wave of the epidemic. His father succumbed to the virus on the 23rd of September, two days prior. His mother unfortunately followed them not long after on the 20th of that November. Henry was survived by his two younger brothers, Edward, who was around 2 years old, and infant Richard. They were taken in by their Aunt and Uncle Reynolds and grew up in Philadelphia, PA.
