EAST WENATCHEE - Arnold Chester Storlie, 87, East Wenatchee, a former longtime Helena, Mont., resident, died Sunday, July 24, 1994, in Central Washington Hospital.

He was born May 11, 1907, to Amund and Emma (Norberg) Storlie in Mora, Minn., where he was raised and educated. The family moved to Bloomfield, Mont., in 1927, where they farmed until 1937.

He married Billie A. Halstead on July 14, 1937, in Glendive, Mont. They moved to Helena, where he worked for Helena Sand and Gravel Co. He then worked for the Helena School District as a custodian, retiring in 1972. He and his wife moved to East Wenatchee in 1989 to be near their son.

Mr. Storlie was inducted into the Western Montana Horseshoe Pitching Hall of Fame. He helped organize the Last Chance Ringer Flingers Horseshoe Club of Helena and served as club president for 15 years. He won many statewide horseshoe tournaments.

Survivors include his wife, at the home; one son, Pete, East Wenatchee; two brothers, Paul and George, both of Ellensburg; two sisters, Anna Lawrence, Everett, and Hazel Harrell, Ellensburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
