MESSER - April 6, 1890, at his home in Trenton township, Job Messer, in the 45th year of his age. He was born and raised in Henry county, and in 1873 he married to Martha Smith. Three children were born to them and after his wife's death in 1878 married Susan Harmon. Six children bless this union. His wife and nine children are left to mourn his loss. The funeral services were conducted by T. W. Olinger, April 7, at White Oak church, and his remains were placed in Scarf graveyard.
Note: Jobe was the son of John Messer and Rhoda Ann Miller. He first married Martha Jane Smith on July 4, 1871 in Henry County, Iowa. She died in 1877. He then married Susanna Harmon on November 14, 1878 in Henry County, Iowa.
Jobe and Martha were the parents of three children, Margaret Ann, John Alvin and Frank Melvin.
Jobe and Susanna were the parents of six children, Clara Arthelia, Reason, Charles Walter, Mary Jane, Milford Henry and Harmon.
