Ann Catherine Davis was born in Marion County, SC to her parents in 1826. Her full name was ANN CATHERINE DAVIS COLLINS FLOYD. She was the oldest child in her family & she comes from a long line of French Huguenots on both sides (Avant, Garnier & Horry families). She was named after both grandmothers (Anne Keen Davis & Catherine Baker Avant). Catherine Davis married John E. Collins (1824-1864) about 1846. They had 4 children. Mr. Collins died in the War Between The States in 1864. Catherine later married Hugh J. Floyd (of neighboring Horry, SC). Hugh died shortly after they were married in 1867, making Catherine twice widowed within 3 years.
According to Register of Deeds, Horry, SC (A.C. Floyd) sold 500 acres for $1025 known as the Galivants Ferry Tract to A.H. Skipper in 1868. (Grantors page 194, Horry County Courthouse).

2. Hugh J. Floyd 1821-1867 no children w/ him as he died shortly after he & Catherine were married. Catherine was twice widowed within three yrs.

Inscription

Ann Catherine Davis (Collins) Floyd born Dec. 18, 1826 died Oct. 5, 1906 "HOLY BIBLE." Her name (Catherine) is misspelled on the stone.

Catharine smoked a clay pipe, according to her granddaughter, Inez Crawford Martin.
