New Bedford, Aug. 12 - Walton Ricketson, New Bedford sculptor, son of Daniel Ricketson, author of the "History of New Bedford," died here today at the age of 84 years. He was a native of this city and was educated in the Friends Academy here.
Since 1870 he has been engaged as a sculptor. Among his notable works are portrait busts of A. B. Alcott, Louisa May Alcott, Henry D. Thoreau, George William Curtis and R. W. Emerson. He designed the Gosnold memorial tower on the island of Cuttyhunk in 1902. With his sister, Anna Ricketson, he was editor of the books, "Daniel Ricketson and His Friends," 1902; "New Bedford of The Past" 1903; "Daniel Ricketson" - autobiographic and miscellaneous 1910. He is survived only by his sister.
