CHRISTINE SCHWINDT
Christina Schwindt was the third oldest child of Nicholas Schwindt and Anna Katrina Kaser. She was born in Norka, Russia, and as a young lady, worked as a maid in the homes of several Russian families where she learned to speak the Russian language.
In 1878 she came to this country with her husband John G. Yost, and their two children. All of her other children were born in this country. They landed at Sutton, Nebraska, the end of the C.B.&Q.R.R. Here they were met by a friend, Henry Sinner. In the ensuing years the family saved enough to acquire their own land in the vicinity of Harvard, Nebraska where many of their descendants are still to be found.
