AWFUL TRAGEDY OCCURS YESTERDAY
Z. T. Hall, a well known farmer residing in State Line District (Hall's Valley) twelve miles from Rome, was shot and killed yesterday afternoon by Jack Bone.
At the time of the killing, Hall was sitting on a reaper in a field where he had been working.
It is said Bone came up armed with a double-barrel shotgun and fired twice at Hall. The first load did not take effect but the second load struck Hall full in the face, killing him instantly.
The trouble between the men which is said to have caused the tragedy dated back several years ago. It sees Hall was deputized by a bailiff to arrest Bone, charged carrying a concealed weapons, and since they have not been on friendly terms.
It is not know if any words were passed between Hall and Bone before the shooting.
Hall was 54 years of age and leaves a wife and three children.
Bone is about 24 years old and is unmarried. He has served a term, it is said in the Floyd County chain gang for carrying a concealed weapon.
He had not been arrested up to a last hour last night, but officers have gone after him.
