Susannah was the daughter and daughter-in-law of Revolutionary War patriots and the niece of at least two of them. She married Levi Buffington, also of Lykens Valley, and with him had eleven children. She is buried at the cemetery of the church which was first named after her family - Hoffmans Church. Susannah's husband, a carpenter, built the original church structure at the site. It is unfortunate that the history books do not reveal more about the lives of the women other than their relationship to men. Susannah must have had a remarkably interesting life.
