Ray E. Ogburn, 77, of 1543 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, died at noon Friday at the Gettysburg Hospital. He was born in Baden, N.D., the son of the late Charles A. & Lydia Ann Kauffman Ogburn.

He was a member of the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren. He was a self-employed building contractor. For 10 years before his retirement he was president of the Superior Millwork Company in Bladensburg, Md. He was also a member of the Bladensburg Rotary Club for a number of years and served as a councilman of Bladensburg for some time. He is survived by his wife, Vena Thompson Ogburn, four children, Charles E. Ogburn, of 1543 Biglerville Rd, Gettysburg; the Rev. Howard L. Ogburn of Nigeria, Africa; James M. Ogburn of Hyattsville, Md, and Donald R. Ogburn of Lanham, Md; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; six brothers, Ira Ogburn, of Mummasburg, Levi Ogburn of Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, Forrest Ogburn of Gettysburg, R.4, Walter Ogburn of Biglerville R. 2, John Ogburn of Bladensburg, Md;, and Earl Ogburn, also of Bladensburg, MD; three sisters, Mildred Merrill of Greenbackville, Va., Mary Hartman of 1557 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, Sue Collins of Masontown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, with his pastor, the Rev. Floyd H. Mitchell, officiating. Interment will be in the upper Marsh Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorials can be made to the Adams County Heart Fund.
