Sacred to the memory of
Mr. Abner Curtis
who died June 30, 1839
in the 78th year of his age.

Mr. Curtis was a decided and exemplary
christian, the first Methodist that ever
came to the state of Maine and for more
than fifty years a class leader.

"Soldier of Christ, well done!
Rest from thy loud employ.
The battles fought the victory's won,
Enter thy master's joy."

Gravesite Details

Abner Curtis was the first town clerk and treasurer of Bucksport, elected to both posts on September 6, 1792.
